Five Freebies for Friday - Fractions

Writing this blog series has been one of my favourite parts of each week! :) Don't forget to leave these amazing teachers some love if you like their activities.

Here is a cute craftivity created by Simply Skilled in Second. I love this one because each flower can be different! What a fun way to "show what you know" and it would make a fabulous bulletin board display! :)

I love this freebie made by Kristina from School Time Snippets. This game can be played in small groups without the help of a teacher. Your students won't even know they are learning!

Mmmm, what a cute fraction pizza craftivity made by Jennifer Bates! I know I already included a craftivity but I couldn't resist this one! Jennifer gives great step by step instructions on how to get your students to cut out their own little pizza toppings to save you some work!

These are fantastic matching cards created by Michelle Walker. This is a great activity for fast finishers that students can play with over and over again! The picture shows the fraction and the words but Michelle also included picture cards. So cute!

This activity is created by Ashleigh on TpT. I used this activity a few months ago and it was a lot of fun. My favourite part was the bonus activity at the bottom where students created their own fraction stories for their neighbourhoods! It was a blast.

Thank you for reading! I hope you found some new sellers that you haven't discovered before.

Until next week,

Five Freebies for Friday - End of the Year

Welcome to week three of my new series. My last day of school is June 25th but I know many districts are finished in May so I thought I better find some freebies on this topic before it was too late! I hope that you find something that you can use. Be sure to leave these amazing teacher-authors some love!

Here is a super sweet end of the year letter put together by Randi. This is a letter you send home with each student for their parents. She included many different frames and templates to choose from! :)

There are so many amazing pages in this free printables packet made by Crazy for First Grade. My favourite is the one pictured above where students reflect on goals they have for the summer. I love setting goals!

This is a wonderful freebie from Blair Turner who is one of my favourite sellers. I LOVE everything she creates! Students write compliments about each of their classmates and they are sealed in an envelope so they can read them at home. I can see this as being something that students would want to keep forever.

Check out this cute craftivity created by Learning is Something to Treasure. There are some brainstorming activities also included in this freebie. It would be neat to see what each student is looking forward to!

Here is a great idea from Swimming into Second for an end of the year gift! She designed these cute tags to attach to a beach ball to give to each student. I especially like this idea because it is something that will encourage the kids to get outside and play. I used this idea a few years ago when I ran an after school program and it was a hit!

Thank you for reading! I hope you will come back next week.

Five Freebies for Friday - Adjectives

Here is the second instalment in my new series! I had a lot of fun finding these amazing freebies. Please consider leaving feedback or a comment on these blogs/stores and let these teacher-authors know how much you appreciate that they have shared their hard work. My hope is that these posts will highlight some teachers that you have never heard of before! :)

Here is a great little packet that includes task cards/a scoot and an assessment worksheet. This is made by Jen Sykes from "Hello Mrs Sykes". The answer key is included and the pigs are too cute!
Check out her blog (Hello Mrs. Sykes).

I love this "One of a Kind" craft made by Lyndsey Kuster of A Year of Many Firsts.  What a fun way to practice using adjectives and a great way to incorporate some positive self talk with your students.

I thought this was a super cute craft made by A Sunny Day in First Grade.  You could either have each child describe themselves or you could have your students describe each other! Perfect for kiddos who aren't quite ready to write full sentences or paragraphs yet.

This freebie was made by Angie Olson from Lucky Little Learners. You give each pair of students a mystery item in a brown paper bag. They use adjectives to describe the item and then the class has to guess what is inside. SO fun!!

Finally, here is a wonderful freebie from Michaela Almeida that is perfect for students who are a bit older! In this activity, students create their own monster and describe it in a paragraph. A graphic organizer is also included!

Thank you for reading! :) I hope you have found something useful for your students.

Until next week,

Pick 3 Pinterest Picks - May

Joining PAWSitively Teaching and The Inspired Owl's Corner again this month for my favourite linky! :)

This is an awesome FREEBIE from one of my favourite Canadian sellers, Tina's Teaching Treasures. Do you HATE repeating yourself? I sure do. It is one of my pet peeves. I almost always write/type out instructions on the white board or SmartBoard so students are able to reread it themselves if they have questions. I love this idea because of the pictures! This will make it easier for those little ones who aren't quite ready to read full sentences yet. Did I mention it is FREE? Make sure to leave Tina some love if you decide to download this from her store! :)

Do you use Learning Goals and Success Criteria in your classroom (or something similar)? If not, you should start! Here is an example of an anchor chart made by Mrs. Beattie from Mrs. Beattie's Classroom. This is a great way to have students be accountable for their own learning and to make sure they know exactly what is expected of them. Success Criteria for a Learning Goal is co-created with your students in language they will understand. I like to give my students their own copy of the Learning Goal and Success Criteria so they can self-assess (and peer-assess!). Who doesn't love a checklist? Do a quick search in Pinterest of "Learning Goals and Success Criteria" to see some other examples!

Here is an example of an anchor chart I made with a grade 3/4 class for making inferences.

Another sensory bin? Surprise, surprise! This one caught my eye because I love how "real" it looks. I think it would be fun to have students collect items from outside to be placed in the bin and then discuss which animals would live in this type of habitat and which don't belong. What a neat "invitation to explore"! :)

Thank you for reading! I hope you will check out some of the other posts in this linky! :)

Five Freebies for Friday - Mother's Day

Here is a new weekly series where I choose five freebies on a particular topic that I feel are worth sharing! This week I am going to feature freebies related to Mother's Day. I hope that you will find something that you can use. If you do download something from these awesome bloggers/authors, be sure to leave a comment or feedback and let them know how much you appreciate their kindness! :)

Here is a cute cupcake craft made by Mandy Gregory. This includes coupons for small tasks kids can do for their mom! Mandy made this with third graders and it took them approximately 45 minutes.

This gift for Mother's Day is created by Colleen from Totally Terrific in Texas who teaches second grade. I love the colourful beads and the fact that every student's creation will be unique.

Kayla from Primary Junction has a packet of freebies on her blog for Mother's Day. You are sure to be able to find something you can use with your students! I liked this page because it quick, simple, and easy.

Okay, so... I don't typically promote treats such as this but... IT'S FOR MOM! :) If anyone deserves a little chocolate treat, it's Mom! Moms are definitely the sweetest.  This adorable printable is made by Kinzie's Kreations.

This printable (in both English and Spanish) is created by Bilingual Scrapbook. I think this would be super sweet to do with a younger grade. It is simple and I am sure it would make any mom smile.

Thank you for reading! I hope you will return next week.
